seven figures out of stone

2025

The sculptural work Fetus I - VII consists of seven stone figures. Each figure is made up of seven individual
stones that have been selected and arranged in such a way that their shape is reminiscent of a human being in the fetal position.
The stones were all collected from the riverbed of the Limmat, where they come to rest for a temporary moment after a long journey of transformation.
The once sharp edges have been smoothed by time and shaped into rounded forms.
The once sharp edges have been smoothed by time and shaped into rounded bodies. Bodies that
store the warm rays of the sun and absorb rainwater. Bodies that vary in size and shape due to
their individual histories. However, through their arrangement in space, the
individual figures connect with each other and form a collective. Their bodies are sheltered by
the force of gravity, sheltered by geological time. A source of collective resilience.
